Fault isolation

Separate sleeve-feed, application and tunnel faults before changing settings.

Start by retaining an unshrunk applied sleeve. If the cut, height, twist or seam position is already wrong before the tunnel, changing the tunnel recipe will not remove the root cause. If the applied sleeve is correct but the cooled pack is not, focus on shrink curve, dwell time, airflow or steam distribution and pack heat limits.

Run one controlled change at a time and record the container batch, sleeve reel, line speed and recipe. This avoids a temporary improvement being mistaken for a repeatable correction.

Controlled fault finding

Capture the first failed stage before changing several settings.

Compare incoming reel condition, pre-tunnel application and cooled finished packs. Record the container, sleeve roll, speed, recipe and fault timing, then change one relevant variable at a time. This prevents a tunnel adjustment masking a placement fault or a machine adjustment compensating for damaged material.
